Why do I need a web site?
How is a web site going to benefit me?
In the United States alone, there are over 221 million internet users. That means that over 75% of the US population is online. There are over 934 million Internet users worldwide and the number is growing tremendously. (These facts are pulled from the Nielsen Ratings.) That being said, finding products and services is one of the primary uses of the Internet. Consumer spending for online content in the U.S. grew to $1.8 billion in 2004. None of that money was spent on your product or service because you do not have an online presence. Online, you do not exist. Why would you deliberately cut yourself out of such a fast growing market? |
No thriving business can afford not to have worldwide internet exposure, they would lose too much. As a business, you cannot afford to leave all of these customers out of your profit margin. After all, they are potential customers. A website will promote your business in so many ways.
A website is cheaper than any other form of effective advertisement. |
A website provides customers with valuable information about your products and services, while providing you with important consumer feedback. Your site is accessible 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Your website is open when your store is not. A customer can continue to come back on their own time and needs. A website is a great way for someone to become comfortable with your company. They can interact with you comfortably, free from reservations or pressure. Customers can view your site at any time they choose to, in the comfort of their home or office. You can sell your products online at all hours of the day. A website is better than normal advertising because with a website, you can reach people all over the world, at all hours of the day, everyday. |
Your business will become global at the moment your site is published. A website will give countless people access to your products and services. There is a fault notion that only big businesses can profit from a web site. Implementing a website is the greatest and cheapest marketing tool available to small businesses. Even your local small businesses can profit from a website. A website will display your physical location, phone numbers, hours of operation, a list of your services, special offers or promotions, and most importantly information that will persuade your customers that you have the right products or provide the best service. This will result in a dramatic increase in sales, as opposed to no sales at all. |
Many people prefer to shop around or gather information without having to have initial contact with person. Maybe they don't want to go through being placed on hold until the next service representative answers. Maybe they want to research a product to be better informed before they face the sales person. It is similar to the theory of why people visit car lots after hours on Sundays to look at cars before they go in during regular business hours to talk to a salesperson. |
Some people don't even look up phone numbers in phone books anymore. They would rather type the name or keyword into Google. The Internet is a tool which people are so accustomed to using, that if a company doesn't have a web presence, they are missing out on a huge opportunity for name recognition, sales and growth. In addition, a person may be more inclined to trust a company that is technologically advanced. They perceive this company as being a step above one who isn't online. A website builds more presence, which adds to your credibility & image. |
Over all, having a website is not just an advantage for your business and your customers, but an expectation. If a company has a web presence and one of their competitors does not, a person might choose to do business with that company that has a web presence. Basically because they can browse through their website, review products & services, send email and place an order. without ever having to leave their seat. |
| While traditional means of advertising still remain important, the internet has become a strong presence that will significantly supplement exposure of your business to the mass. By supplementing your alternative methods and means of marketing, a web solution will undoubtedly add to your overall customer base! And isn't that the ultimate goal? |
